Anchored!

Writer's picture: ErikahErikah

I was preparing to hang a heavy mirror on my wall, but first, I had to make sure the anchor on the back of the mirror was strong enough to hold the mirror in place for long periods of time without falling to the floor.

In preparation for this, I thought about life and how if we are not properly anchored in the Lord when trials and troubles come, we will bend and, sure enough, break. However, when we take the proper preparation to prepare our hearts, minds, and souls when those valleys do come, we can slide through with joy because our anchor is found in the living God. Where is my amen corner (lol)!

Okay, so you want to know how to anchor yourself in God, correctly, right? Sure thing, practical steps is to spend time reading His word. I have the YouVersion app, and it's perfect! https://www.bible.com/app I suggest downloading it and start with some daily plans to get yourself acquainted with His word. There are plans for everything. Don't be discouraged as your next question maybe you don't understand what you are reading. In the app, there are so many different translations to make understanding the bible that much easier. I prefer the NLT (New Living Translation).

Hmm, I hear your next question... where do I start? I suggest plans on prayer (how to pray) or whatever you may be dealing with, anxiety, health, loss, strength, patience, perseverance...trust me, the list goes on and on. YouVersion and other apps like it are truly phenomenal.

Let's read in His word together.

1 Peter 5:6 NLT

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time, He will lift you up in honor.

Psalm 33:20-22 NLT

20 We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield.

21 In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name.

22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

Lamentations 3:22-26 NLT

22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

24 I say to myself, "The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!"

25 The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.

26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.

Living in, on, and for purpose, are you?
