My Thorn!

Hey Y'all! What's popping with you? I know it's been a minute since I posted. It's been a tough year for me. I am incredibly grateful to my village for standing, crying, kneeling, crawling, shouting, and sitting silently with me through these last few months. So, as you can see, this post's title is My Thorn. Uh oh, this sounds like it's about to get deep. Well, yeah, it is. Let's dive in then, shall we?

I am currently 41 years young as of the writing of this particular post, and I have discovered a thorn not on my side like Paul's (or it is, depending on how you look at it). You can check out the story of Paul's Thorn in 2 Corinthians 12, beginning at verse 7.

So let me tell you how this came about. I have struggled with acne (not all my life) after I began having children (around 26), and because of the acne and my picking (oh brother), I have scars. Black scars on my beautiful milk chocolate face. Anywhoo! I've tried many, many, many products and been to dermatologists, estheticians, home remedies, and online remedies. You name it, and my face has felt and experienced it.

I recently talked to a trusted friend and commented that my face is clearing up (I'm all giddy). She looks at me sternly and says, "Gurl, that's your thorn! I gasped and said what...no! No! No! No, Lord, not the face. I asked in a rather loud tone, What made you say that she exclaimed, Chile,

My thorn

I don't know! And then, I talked with the Holy Spirit. What if it is? What about it? What if these black splashes never clear up? Will you still move and go as I'm instructing you? Into places and spaces, I've called you with complete confidence. Don't make your face an idol. You are gorgeous, regardless of the scars and (new ones) that continue to surface. Just like Paul walked and completed his assignment with his purpose, go and do the same. Well friends. My thorn is my face (the black scars). Im beautiful! I'm bold! Im black! I'm a child of God, walking in, on, and for purpose, are you? What's your thorn? Deal with it, face it, and walk with purpose.
